Like all processes, the quality of inputs has a direct impact on the quality of outputs. Therefore, to ensure quality and importantly usable EPOS system reports, we would recommend dedicating some time and resource to data accuracy. For example, it would be difficult to determine if hair care is performing ahead or behind last year’s position if you are not confident that a new hair range listed during the year has been categorised correctly as hair care and therefore may or may not appear in the numbers. In our experience, SKUs can very often end up sitting within the incorrect department on the system i.e. a specific shampoo classified as belonging to the dental department. The more accurate your data, the more confident you will be in your interpretations of EPOS reports. This will lead to more meaningful actions for your front of shop based on these interpretations.
